subway system deemed unreliable

For the second time in the only four weeks I’ve been commuting, I arrived at work over 40 minutes late due to subway delays (there was an “incident” on the number 2 train this morning). But it was worth it just to see the Union Square station today: people were lined up all the way up the stairs, spilling over into a large part of the subway station just waiting to get down to the platform, which was jam-packed, and the subways were even worse (I would estimate it would take at least 7 subways before they could all get on…).
