looking for an alternative to smoking
When going out to take fresh air/sunlight breaks, I run into the smokers and feel somewhat awkward simply pacing in the heat with no cigarette action. I was thinking of something on the lines of escaping to make quick “important” phone calls, but am not sure how well that would go over 4, 5 times a day…
Alas, I’m back to the cubicle for far more hours than I can optimally handle. But it’s good to be working, sort of thinking, interacting with people, and getting paid. And with the forced routine of a full time job, the new car, a deposit on an apartment with a one year lease, and far less flex time than I'm accustomed to (lately), things are slowly settling down, though I'm not sure if that's a good thing...

My aunt spent a short time in a psych ward which gave smokers regular outside smoking breaks. She (a nonsmoker) complained that she should get to go outside for a little bit too, so she did--and somehow decided that doing yoga outside on the sidewalk would be a good substitute activity for smoking. I think they ended up taking away her break time...anyway, I suppose you can cross yoga off your list.
Yoga was not really something I was considering doing out on the hot pavement behind the building while watching the radars rotate above me…But thanks for the comment! I must admit, I’m amazed (and flattered) that friends are still checking my blog regularly despite my sparse posting…
I think one would have to be pretty out of it to consider it, to be honest ;)
Congrats on the new job, btw.
Chesky and I used to go for coffee breaks... ;-)
But coffee doesn’t quite warrant an excuse to go outdoors, i.e., one can drink coffee in the cubicle…And besides, you know I don’t drink coffee.
